The week we got back from Thanksgiving break was the week before finals. We disdainfully refer to this period as ‘dead week,’ where all-nighters, constant studying, reviewing of notes, and last-minute revisions cause the students to appear lifeless at first glance. Sigma Pi managed to keep morale high during this week, for although we were busy, we managed to make time to enjoy each others’ company; we studied together, ate together, played games together, and tried to maintain a spirit of fraternalism despite the challenges that dead week presented to our schedules and sanity.
We held our installation ceremony for our new executive council, so it’s official now! We also got to celebrate two of our brothers, Collins Ray and Rett Watson, for being elected as the President and the Vice President of Recruitment for Interfraternal Council respectively.

We held a graduation ceremony for Jacob Hubers, who received his BA in Psychology and Advanced Scientific Analysis (with honors). He hopes to go on to a Ph.D. program in the fall of 2020. We are sad to see Jacob go, but we are excited to see what he will do in the future!

We hosted our annual Christmas party on the Sunday night before finals week. We ate delicious holiday treats, listened to holiday jingles, exchanged secret Santa gifts, and had our Senior Christmas Roast! It was a fantastic refresher before finals week.

We want to congratulate one of our alumni, David Barberis, on his engagement to Taylor Perkins, one of our emerald sisters! We are very proud of them both for taking this big step in their relationship and lives. As Gandhi said, “where there is love, there is life.” Good luck, David and Taylor, may your lives together be wonderful, exciting, and full of love!

Looking to the new year, we are all excited about what’s to come. This chapter is planning on doing great things that we’re excited to share with you. First, we are going to take some time to relax, share fellowship with our family and friends wherever we call home and reflect on the past semester. We’ve grown this semester, in our relationships with each other, in chapter size, in our capabilities as an organization, and our personal development. We hope to continue to grow together in the coming year. We wish you all a Happy Holidays!
